Combat:
Flame spiders prefer to attack from ambush, dropping from ledges or the ceiling to strike with the front claw-legs while delivering a venomous bite. They may also rear back onto the hindmost legs and throw acidic web from the spinnerets, that burns flesh as well as combustibles, adhering to any surface it touches.

Found only in volcanically active areas or the Elemental Plane of Fire, it is most likely that Flame Spiders were introduced to Rosha by Pyromancers. They are territorial, meeting only once ever 20 years to lay a nest of several thousand eggs, usually suspended over a stream or lake of magma. The female promptly eats the male, then guards the nest until the eggs hatch, whereupon the hatchling spiders are on their own. Due to the delicate temperature requirements of the eggs, most of them die before hatching. The 500-1000 that do hatch have a body about the size of a chicken egg, and grow slowly until they the maximum leg-span of 20 feet for females, 15 feet for the males, if they live long enough. This size is reached by 20 years, whereupon they are mature enough to breed.
