Description:
Much like any other species of eagle in overall form, but with a twenty-foot wingspan. The body feathers range in color from dirty pale yellow to burnished brown-gold. On the top of the head there is a crest of long feathers; both this crest and the tail are royal purple. There are bare sections around the eyes, and the legs are completely featherless; in these areas they show bright red-pink skin. Beak and talons are viciously curved, extremely sharp, and black. Eyes are the golden brown.

Combat:
A natural predator, harpy eagles attack with either two feet of tearing claws and a shearing bite or powerful blows from their wings. If both claws hit successfully, they might snatch away the opponent and fly upward to drop them from a height.

Habitat/Society:
Mating for life like many other species of large raptor, they remain solitary until finding a mate. After this, they build a nest and lay 1-2 eggs every three years, raising the young for two years before driving them away to find their own territory. Whenever possible, they live in areas where harpies are numerous.

Ecology:
Although they will eat any animal they can catch, harpy eagles are named for their preference in food; they much prefer harpies over any other prey. This might explain why they have absolutely no sense of smell, and their nests usually smell bad enough to drive any egg-thief away long before the eggs are at risk. Harpy eagles are singularly carnivorous.
