Description:
The cazen are approximately 10 feet head to tail. Cazen have triangular heads with a sharp beak at it's end. The cazen's mouth can open wide enough to swallow jack rabbits whole. Their yellow eyes are that of a nocturnal predator. The head is supported by a neck that is slightly longer then the head itself. Their upper body is slightly larger then the lower. In between the two muscular sections of the cazen's form is a thinner section. This area of the body consists of the digestive system, among other things. The cazen's body is supported on four bird like taloned feet. The body sports a thick tail for balance. The color of a cazen's scaly hide varies, though generally consists of a brownish color.

Combat:
The cazen are predators and scavengers. They are intelligent hunters, patient and cunning. It is not uncommon for a cazen to stalk it's prey for days. Except in cases of larger or more dangerous prey, the cazen generally hunt and scavenge alone. Should a cazen find itself outnumbered or overwhelmed it will often call to others of it's kind. The cazen's packs are little more then a loose pecking order and a way for mutual protection should the need arise. The cazen's shriek can be heard for miles, bringing those nearby to assist.

The cazen prefers to use stealth and quick silent slashes against it's opponent. A cazen rarely makes a killing blow, instead the victim often collapses from exhaustion and loss of blood. The cazen uses it's beak to tear the flesh of fallen prey, dead or alive. This can be especially devastating when there are several cazen tearing at an exhausted victim.

Habitat/Society:
The cazen wander aimlessly in search of food. As long as the temperatures are fairly high during the day they will travel through most terrain. They usually sleep during the day, absorbing the heat of the sun for use during night travels. The cazen are not exclusively nocturnal though. If they are following prey they will conform to the sleep pattern of their quarry. In some cases the pattern is too different resulting in low body temperature. Such an event can be debilitating to the cazen. The cazen hold very little loyalty to each other. A loose pecking order exists from time to time, though is rarely enforced. A fellow cazen's shriek awakens a spark of duty, bringing nearby cazen to it's origin.

Ecology:
Cazen have a life span of approximately 25 years. They will eat anything from something the size of a rat, to anything three times there size. In packs the maximum size doubles. Carrion is also a regular part of the cazen's diet. Cazen rarely have a significant on the environment. Their nomadic nature keeps them from over hunting. It is not uncommon for a pack of cazen to follow large groups of prey, cutting down their numbers significantly. It has been known of cazen to use this same behavior in relation to the civilized world. A pack of cazen often begin to congregate along well used trade routes. Larger caravans are usually unaffected, but smaller ones are often harassed by cazen stalkers.
