Description:
Cornutus are lean, thin muscled creatures that many believe to be a twisted form of goblin. They are few in number but can be extremely dangerous to small groups.

They usually range in height anywhere from four to six feet tall. They're bodies appear thin and drawn out. Bone like platings and horns stick out from their greenish black skin. The skin itself is tough, almost scaley. They have no eyes, nostrils, or ears. Their mouthes have no lips, merely large mouthes with sharp pointed teeth meant for tearing. The head is elongated and fairly heavy.

Most commonly they will be seen alone. They tend to sit and stand on all for limbs the majority of the time. When they stand they often seem off balance, and often are soon. Approximately one out of three cornutus encountered will be female.

Combat:
The cornutus can see nothing save the glowing forms of those with souls. This prevents them from learning valuable skills on smaller creatures. Most often they are inexperienced unless they have fought with others of their kind.

The blindness to everything but the body of those with a soul also means that weapons are not visible. Every target to a cornutus is unarmed. This makes everyone almost equally a target. Larger forms are often seen as a greater danger, but this is only a marginal increase.

Because of these facts they often charge blindly(almost literally) at their enemies. They will claw, slash and bite. They are often more interested in eating then fighting. Those with experience will eat their victim alive. Once their opponent is dead they can not see them.

Habitat/Society:
Cornutus are often nomadic, moving from one kill to the next. Several learn to avoid continous contact with their prey. Those that do will take up residance near rural inhabitations and along trade routes.

They have little social order. Most of their interactions are mere threats and killings. The longer lived become more respectful of each other's bite. These will use threats and the occassional scuffle to create small territorial borders.

Females are given full sway over the males. A female is highly prized and males will fight eachother for them. The more experienced females have learned to manipulate the males. Through the use of body language almost unique to her, those that follow her and her brood, she can command them. This is rarely seen in battle as they would have to look at their leader constantly in order to know what they were to do.

The few groups that do form societies will raise their young into it, should the group survive that long. These groups often disperse when there is no food, or when there are too many mouthes to feed. It is not uncommon for many of the newborns to be divided amongst the group and eaten.

Ecology:
Cornutus were believed by some to be creations of a mage. That they were deviations of a goblin of somekind, is the most common version of this theory. However, the goblin theory is unlikely as it has been recorded that they lay eggs. These eggs are much like a frogs, hatching into small fish devouring amphibians whose appearance closely resembles their adult forms. The most noticable difference between the two other then the tail, is the eye.

These creatures hatch with an eye at the front of their bodies just above their mouth. When the young come out of the water this eye is apparently lost. Perhaps it is pierced through by the new bone like plating that inhabits the position it once had been.

As adults they are blind to the world save for those with a soul or spirit. These are illuminated brightly, clothes hindering the glow slightly. The creatures will leave swathes of death where they go, though sparing the wild life. Nature seems relatively at ease with these unnatural creatures.

The cornutus live short lives usually, though none have ever seen any whom appeared to be in old age. During periods of low food they can hibernate for a couple months before they will starve.
