The Elder Elves are an ancient and proud people. They call their home lands the Elder Lands and their capital city Elder City. The origins of the Elder Elves are unclear due to their xenophobic and super elitist nature, but one thing is clear, they have been here at least as long as any other race in the realms. The Elder Elves have a history rich in tradition and mystery. Their recount of history is exemplary and many of their writings predate any known society of peoples. The Elder Elves history claims that there is a vast history spanning nearly an eon before anything on this plane came into existence. That in the beginning only the gods existed, but the gods grew lonely and bored and so began to create things. First came the suns of the heavens and then the planetary bodies and the moons. Then they created a perfect world, one that they then began to spawn life on. They were well pleased with their creation and communed regularly with the people of the world. But as time drew on the gods began to ignore their creation, becoming bored with it as well, and the people were forced to hack out a life on their own. As time passed the people began to create things, technologies that boggled the mind and pushed the very limits of the physical laws witch governed them. There came a time that the people of this world reveled in the creation of an artificial life and artificial intelligence. They were awestruck when they broke the barrier that separated them from the heavens and made their first ventures into space. But then the gods became concerned and their attention was drawn back to the people whom they had all but forgotten. They began to try and reestablish their rule on the world but the people rejected them just as the gods had once done to them. The gods were infuriated and began to rain calamity down upon the people, but still the people rejected them. Many years past like this, finally the people achieved the technology to pass into space further and found the home of the gods. Here they waged a war against them that was indeed so furious that it rended the very creation from it’s foundations. Everything below was destroyed but a strange thing began to happen. As the gods fell to the people their forms were absorbed into the void left behind from the cataclysm and creation began anew. The dead gods became planets, plants, animal life, and some of the more powerful gods spawned the creation of the races we know today. However as the people fell they were integrated into a web, a web that we now know as magic. Their spirits, rejected by the gods were woven into this great force that many years later the races would learn to manipulate. The Elder Elves call these people the Ancients. This recount would explain the difference between Druidic and Clerical magics and the magics that mages and wizards use. The Elder Elves claim that their race was the first spawned, a product of a god named Elvien, hence the derivative, Elf. After the war the gods were left with only a handful of them left and they swore that they would never leave their creation to their own resources again and redoubled their efforts to integrate themselves into the daily lives of their people once again. As the Elder Elves grew as a race they began to build a great empire. One that was integrated with nature as to not overly trespass on the spirits of the gods. They grew in their holy magics and their society was well blessed by the deities that watched over them. There were spurs during this time though. Small groups of the elves that went off in search of their own destiny for one reason or another. This, the Elder Elves claim, is the origin of every other type of elf including the Drow and the Wood Elves. By the time the first humans were tacking together a shelter and calling it a home the Elder Elves had the Elder City built and had a sprawling empire that was more beautiful and more advanced than even the greatest of human cities this day. However as in all histories there came a time of great trouble for the Elder Elves. It spawned with a young mage name Eeliandoor. Eeliandoor discovered the history of the ancients, and desperate to be accounted with the greatest of the elven mages he began to experiment with these arcane and illegal magics. Eeliandoor unleashed a maelstrom of chaos into the society of the Elder Elves that reflects and puts to shame the human legend of Pandora’s Box. It took many long years to push the infection of the Ancients out of their lands. And after they had done so they hunted the rouge mage down and flayed his body across many miles of open field. It was a horrible punishment for the elf, but he could not be allowed to continue with his experiments. After the time of troubles the Council decided to seal their lands. To allow no one to enter or exit them for fear of pollution of the race. That decree stands still today. The Elder Lands have fallen into a mist of mystery and very few people actually believe that the place exists at all. Recently however there has been an attempt to establish certain Elder Elven colonies. Perhaps it is the first effort from the council to open up their race to the outside world, yet still protect the sanctity and purity of the race within the Elder Lands themselves. Or perhaps it is just a ploy to expand their empire. The drives and the motivations behind the elusive and mysterious people are unknown. Ecology:
Elder Elves live for an inditermaned amount of years if left to them selves. Their culture and their empire embrace nature and work in harmony with it to enhance the beauty as well as the fuctionality of it. The Elder ELves almost allways leave the land in better condition then when they found if they leave at all. Elder Elves seldom move and never in large groups. |
