Description: This form of vegetation takes on a mottled pattern of green and brown. The central body is centered just above the roots, which dig into either soil, rock, or other vegetation. The central body is hard like a tree root knotted up. From this spreads a mossey exterior which digs lightly into the surounding surface. Grass and leaf like appendages grow from the center as well, generally these are free of brown spots unless the plant is sick or generally isn't doing well. Vines spread out in all directions, taking a circular pattern around the central root. The most notable part of the plant is the gaping bear trap like appendages. There is commonly only one of these to each plant, but exceptions have been recorded. A scent of nuts and berries exudes from the sticky surface of their gaping interiors.

Combat:
Fleisch pflanze simply has to wait for it's prey to approach the plant's maw. Once a squirrel, bird, or investigating limb of some curious wanderer alerts the plant it quickly springs to life. Pressing against it's mossey surface, moving it's vines, or touching the interior of it's gaping mouth are the three known ways of alerting the plant of the presence of food.

Once the plant becomes active it's mouth spreads wider, almost flat. It's vines grow, twisting and curling about the victim to hold it still. The truly dangerous part of the plant is the moss, which grows quickly about the victim, digging into it's flesh like thousands of tiny roots. You'd be hard pressed to free your hand without the aid of a very sharp blade. The victim held fast, it's slowly consumed by the mossy surface. Once the victim has been digested the plant trims itself back, dropping excess foilage to the wayside.

Travelers whom come into contact with the mossey substance of the fleisch pflanze should keep their hands away from water for a few days, as the roots have been known to continue growing for as long as a week after being severed from the main body.

The mossey roots are also coated with a weak paralysing and numbing substance. This poison helps keep the victim from escaping it's vines, which are already quite strong. It's a good way to kill some pain too, if not a bit dangerous.

Habitat/Society:
Fleisch pflanze can live in large groups so long as there is enough water, 'soil', and food. They've been seen in many regions, some literally worlds apart. With enough rainfall or other source of water, it'd be quite possible to find an entire forest floor covered with these flesh eating plants.

Ecology:
This form of vegetation can live as long as it's needs are provided for. It will grow all year until winter. During this time it will go into a hibernation, often times cutting the greenery from it's body. This makes these plants a good source of protein and other nutrients during the winter months. Once they reawaken they will continue to grow and subdivide, simply budding from eachother's root systems.
