This pattern is written or engraved into an object which will be used as a container. The container can be anything from a book to a stone, so long as the object is not alive. This means that the only distinguishing feature of the geist sealed is the seal itself, a collection of straight lines laid out in a specific design. The sealed ones' spiritual appearance often takes on the shape and form of their container. Their old appearance and traits are most often skewed, stretched, and crushed in order to fit in their new confines. This makes it difficult to identify the spirit's origins. The geist sealed tend to appear similar, with only a few details distinguishing them through the spiritual eye. Combat:
The geist sealed would merely bludgeon their opponent if it were not for the design of the ones whom seal them. Daggers and short swords are often used as containers for these sealed spirits. Spells are also sometimes used along with the seal. A geist sealed rarely fully understands their container, unable to truly see it. A standard sealed one whom is without added spells will simply charge 'headfirst' at it's opponent. The 'head' of the geist sealed corresponds to the top of the written or engraved seal. Properly placed on a blade, it will allow the sealed one's charge to bring the point of a blade at their target. Slashes are only very rarely used by the geist sealed, primarily only seen by the most experienced of sealed. With time they've come to understand the sides of their new body, which is practically invisible to them, can wound as well. Spell casting geist sealed are most often created in the form of books. A secondary seal is linked to the geist seal. This seal is either placed around a rune or incantation. The incantation cannot be one which requires ingredients or compenents, unless these are somehow crafted into the sealed one's container. Spells requiring gems crafted into the hilt of a blade, or locks of hair woven into the binding of a book are two examples of these. These geist sealed will learn in the exploration of their new confines of these spells. Carefull attention is paid by experienced mages in the choice of spells. Elemental spells are rarely used, as they tend to be destructive to the container. Spells of light, dark, and illusion are common along with barrier and vampiric spells. Spells of enviromental manipulation are rarely used as the sealed ones cannot see their enviroment properly. Unable to see obstacles and moments of opportunity, the geist sealed are unable to avoid running into walls between them and their opponent, or find holes in their victim's defenses. Habitat/Society:
Geist sealed are most often placed in areas where they can act as guardians. As they have no loyalty to their creators, gates and other commonly used places make for bad locales. The sealed are often placed on bookshelves and other displays, depending on the nature of their container. The geist sealed rarely move far from their initial entrapment. It requires more energy the further they travel from that location. Often they will return to the location to rest as it offers the least resitance to their movements. This makes where a spirit is sealed very important. The sealed ones have little to no social interaction. Over time they sometimes learn to work together, but often this is not the case. The spirits are most commonly enraged from being entrapped and strike out at others. The geist sealed soon come to realize that the others are in the same predicament as themselves, their spiritual appearance similar to eachother. Often the sealed ones are not even able communicate with eachother. This leads to a very chaotic, anarchy like, social order. Ecology:
The geist sealed is created by first writting or inscribing the geist seal onto the intended container. A seal must also be inscribed around any spells that the sealed spirit must later use. This seal is then linked to the geist seal with a simple spell. After this task is completed a long winded spell must be cast upon the object and the seal. The spell draws a nearby spirit and then traps them inside the container. The spirit is forever entrapped, unable to escape it's new confines until it and the seal has been destroyed. The sealed's new habitat remains for the most part unchanged. Most commonly anything the geist sealed can see becomes scarce as it tries to take out it's rage on them. The sealed ones are rarely given spells that would allow them to alter their enviroment, as they are most often created to protect and guard an area or object. |
