Ilelias |

Size/Catagory: Aquatic Creature
Stats: Mind: Expert 20 Body: Master 8 Magic: Untrained 20 Number of Attacks: 1 Damage/Attack: Attack is done via Stingers and the stretchy, membranous skin Special Attacks: Conformity - The Ilelias' ability to stretch and conform it's shape to fit over anything. The flexible membrane that is its skin can suffocate victims in this way. Sting - The Ilelias has a dozen or stingers literally "floating" in its skin, so whenever needed, the Ilelias can simply stretch out a tendril shaped piece of its body to attack. The Ilelias will need to sting twice in order to kill. The first sting is a temporary paralytic shock, the length of the effects dependant on victim's size and weight. (IE. A tiny fish is paralyzed for a relatively long time compared to if a six-foot, two hundred pound man were stung.) Jumping - Even though they are shapeless, there is a definite center to them that seems more solid than the rest of their body. When they need to "jump" (most often into the air at flying prey), this center pulls in water from the Ilelias' surroundings and then jets it out in a stream to propel itself up and out of the water. They have to be quick and precise to wrap their membranous body around their prey as soon as the two touch, because, if not, the Ilelias will be forced into a mass of its gooey self by winds and air and lack of water to support its body. If the Ilelias is trapped like this and lands on solid ground, they will die. If they fall like this back into the water, there is a chance they will live. Special Defenses: The skin is not only a useful attack, but also a defense. Most blades cannot harm the Ilelias, simply going straight through the skin. If an Ilelias is annoyed too many times by a certain blade, it will just suck the blade into it's center and refuse to let it go. Also, because of the Ilelias' ability to contract and conform, it is a very hard creature to keep a hold on, especially in the water. On land, their non skeletal structure is not supported by the water and they turn into a mass of goo (basically). Still able to writhe and sting, they are not completely helpless. For these reasons, the Ilelias' will avoid the shore. Special Abilities: None. Magic Resistance:Fire based spells/weapons. If any spell or weapon that is fire based tries to attack, they simply stretch and spread out their skin which reveals their water filled center, allowing them to "catch" the attack. Climate/Terrain: Ilelias' live all their life in the ocean. They prefer cold water, and if the water turns warm during certain months, they flee to the ocean depths.
Frequency: Uncommon Organization: Solitary Activity Cycle: Ilelias' avoid the sun as much as possible; they are most active at night and early in the morning. Intelligence: Low - they know survival instincts. Language: None. Communication, if any, is done by way of subsonic pulses. Alignment: Most often Chaotic Neutral Description: The Ilelias is a solitary hunter, always alone. It very much resembles a jellyfish with a stretchy, membranous skin and no skeletal support. It is shapeless, letting the water of its habitat decide its form. Water currents help the Ilelias move, but, they are very capable of leaping out of the water. Their skin is opaque, most often inky blue-black, but it can change to a pearly white, especially when they stretch out. Thick dark objects seem to float about in their skin, these being stingers. At any given time, they can stretch out a part of their skin with a stinger on the end to attack. If one is so successful as to grab and hold on to one of the Ilelias, their hands will be covered in a mucousy, clear substance, like jelly. It is sticky, and hard to clean off, and if left too long, can have a numbing effect. The Ilelias seem to have no eyes, or mouth. They are simply blobs. Combat:In water, Ilelias are agile, quick, and if not strong...hard to keep a hold on. When they see a potential meal, their skin will change to various shades of blue, black, or even clear to blend in with surroundings, and then creep up on their prey while slowly stretching out their skin. In an instant, the poor victim will be surrounded by suffocating membrane with no way to get out, and then pushed into the Ilelias' core, to be torn apart by clear stomach like acids, eaten and broken down while still alive. It is painful, to say the least. Should they be resisted or fought against, the Ilelias have stingers. Their first sting is always a paralytic shock, and the second is most usually deadly.
Being so conformable, the Ilelias can fit over most anything. The more they eat, the more they grow, the bigger they get, the bigger their prey get. And, finally, when they reach their largest size (Which tends to be about six feet in diameter..a blobby sort of six feet.) they will sink to the ocean floor, and, live out the rest of their life in laziness, not having to move ever again. Habitat/Society:
There is no society, no social interaction. The Ilelias are too simple for such things. They travel, hunt, and live alone all their life and they are asexual. Mates are not needed. Ilelias live for a good fifty years, and once in their lifetime, they will release tiny larvae type eggs. They release millions, and, then disappear. These eggs, if not eaten, will land on reefs and attach themselves. Over time, a mucousy sac will form and grow until it forms an Ilelias. This sac is their center, and the membranous skin forms over a few months times. The newly born Ilelias will deatch themselves and go off to live their pitifully boring lives. Ecology:Ilelias are not creatures of adaptation. They reside in the ocean, and never leave it by intention. They don't seem to sleep, but can be found hovering very still in tiny crevices and amongst the reefs along the bottom of the ocean.
