Frequency: Rare Organization: Slavers Activity Cycle: Unknown Intelligence: High Language: A piercing shriek seems to be an adequate means of communication. Alignment: Evil Description: It us unknown exactly where the Shadow Dancers had come from, though it is rumored that the Mirragoth Behemoths had accidentally released them whilst excavating caverns deeper within their domain. Having enslaved Mirragoth’s native Behemoths to do their bidding, it is rare to see one of these phantoms in combat and even more so to see them performing any physical labor. Measuring three meters tall and seeming to be weightless, the creatures are more or less a mass of living shadow. Combat
Preferring to make their slaves do whatever work needs be done, the Shadow Dancers reside deep within the caverns of Mirragoth, only revealing themselves when great conflict occurs. Rising from the shadows nearby the source of the feud, the Shadow Dancer will give a shrill cry to dismiss the Behemoths of Mirragoth, preferring to face any intruders personally. The Shadow Dancers may be cruel, but they are not fond of anyone capable of slaying their prisoners and will not risk a decline in their numbers. The Shadow Dancer will wield two scimitars, one of which they will do battle with, the other used strictly to shield their face. Because of this behavior it is assumed that the head of the creature is the only part of them that is corporeal, and so it is thought to be a point of vulnerability. They will move with a grace thought to surpass that of the Elves whilst bringing down their blade just as efficiently. It must be noted that, if ever one must combat these creatures, the use of conventional weaponry is not suggested. It seems that all but their head is made of pure shadow, and so it is thought that an extremely proficient swordsman could defeat them by bypassing both of the Shadow Dancer’s blades and striking at it. It is unknown what magic would affect this creature, though it can be assumed that holy arts would be effective. Habitat/Society
Very little is known about the origins of the Shadow Dancers. Due to the way the Mirragoth Behemoths seem to fear the Shadow Dancers, it is assumed that they had invaded the caverns, though when and why is still to be discerned. From the crude structures that they force their slaves to build it is also guessed that they are aware of some form of architecture. Thus far all non-combat related information on these phantoms has been speculation. Ecology
Nothing is known about the Shadow Dancers' ecology as they only ever reveal themselves to do combat. |
