Description:
Appearing an a wide variety of skin-colors, they are usually solid shades of blue, green, yellow, red, gray, black, or white. Somewhat resembling a miniature dragon, they are have two large wings and rudder-fans on either side of their tail, just behind the back legs. Some varieties also have horns or decorative frills running down their spines. or around the back of the head, and some varieties have markings similar to those of a snake, from banding to spots, stripes to diamond-patterns.

Combat:
Dragon Lizards rarely attack anything other than prey unless harassed. If they do, they commonly swoop and claw at the opponent with front claws, either biting or breathing narrow cones of flame at them. If they grab hold, they buffet with their wings and rake with hind claws.

Habitat/Society:
Dragon Lizards are solitary most of the year, but in early summer they gather into large communities around the edges of springs and ponds to lay their eggs. The eggs are carefully tended until they hatch by all of the lizards, who don't seem to differentiate between their own and those of others. However, after they hatch, the young lizards are on their own.

Ecology:
Dragon Lizards are omnivores, supplementing a diet of fish and fruit with the occasional mouse, bird or nest of eggs. They are hunted by larger predators, and a nesting group defending its eggs has been known to cause forest fires. Individually, the flame of their breath is not enough to ignite damp wood, but might be dangerous in extremely dry environments.
