Description:
A large feline, with an overall body shape and mane that suggests a lion, but with the coloring and spots of a leopard. Eight straight, sharp black horns protrude from the forehead, and the claws are extremely long, more like those of a sloth than a feline. Eyes are invariably golden yellow.

Combat:
As a predator, guarloun are naturally inclined to attack anything that looks like a meal. They frequently coordinate their attacks, either one member of the pride pretending injury to lure the prey into a trap or a few members showing themselves in select locations to spook the prey into a panicked flight through the area where the rest of the pride lays in wait. When attacking something that is trying to get away, they try to swipe at its belly, disemboweling it with their claws so that the prey runs its own guts out. If attacked themselves, or if their prey doesn't run, they attack with both front paws and either bite or stab with their horns.

Habitat/Society:
Like a lion, guarloun live in prides. Unlike a lion, there may be several adult males in one pride, although there will be one who is dominant over the others. This male has first choice of the females, and the others decide who gets what after that. 1-2 cubs are born after a 6 month gestation, and take 5 years to mature. Guarloun can live to be 20 years old. Both males and females are extremely protective of any and all cubs; even a cub from another pride, somehow separated from its family, will be adopted into the pride that finds it and raised as one of their own. Parenthood is communal; all females are 'mother', and all males are 'father'.

Ecology:
Guarloun fill the niche of most predators; they thin the population of the prey, and improve the health of the prey animals by removing weaker bloodlines. It is most likely, giving the rather conglomerate appearance of the creatures, that they are a race that was magically created.
