Ivy was born about two hundred years ago in a small village outside of the fledgling city that would one day grow to mighty RavnGlade. She was a pretty child and very interested in the church, often visiting the temples and churches in RavnGlade. She was facinated by 'good' religions and learned all she could about them. The clergy made jokes about calling her a Holy Child. When she was 18 her village was attacked by orcs. As they burned and looted in the night she, for the first time in her life, set eyes upon living evil creatures. As she gazed at them in revulsion, any who met her eyes was transformed to stone. After this happened to several the attack was called off and the monsters retreated. She was hailed a hero, the girl who's pure beauty was so great as to turn evil to stone. Little did they know of her gorgon heritage deep in her family's past. As she grew older she used her powers to fight evil creatures wherever she could. Her abilities became widely known over the years. She met a noble knight, a man named Rudder Tolendra and they fell in love. Together, with her petrifying gaze and his blade they were great champions of good. As time passed her husband changed though. He grew arrogant and condescending to the other forces of good, seeing himself and Ivy as the only defenders of any merit. On one fateful day Sir Rudder engaged in a heated argument with a lesser knight. In a fit of anger they drew swords and in an all to quick clash, the man lie dead, slain by Rudders anger. As he turned to look at his wife, a smug look of satisfaction on his face, her gorgon eyes petrified him where he stood. Horrified at what she had done, and what her husband had become Ivy ran to the Hot Springs of RavnGlade. There in the light of the full moon, she gazed at her own reflection and relaxed, allowing herself to be turned to stone. Every full moon she awakens for one night, to walk the city she once protected, and to visit the vine crusted and eroding statue that was once her husband. |
