Niyandra's mother was a normal mermaid, taking from the sea by a mage who has long since died. The knowledge of what manner of creature fathered her died with the wizard, but it was no willing partnership with the mermaid. Niyandra was born in bloodshed, as she tore her way out of her own mother with claws and fangs, killing the mermaid in slow agony. Her first meal was of her mother's flesh, for she was born fully carnivorous. For several years Niyandra served the wizard, searching the seas of Rosha for whatever object he commanded her to find, or luring ships to their demise to salvage slaves and goods for his experiments and luxury. Eventually, as so often happens with over-confident wizards, he summoned a creature that he couldn't control, and was killed. Freed of his control, Niyandra has since wandered the oceans of Rosha, using her natural skills of psionic illusion and charm to her own advantage, be it luring a ship into wrecking or simply charming a sailor to jump overboard, for her to feast upon. |
