Shun-Akul

Second of the Akul discovered, the landmass east of Ash-Akul and south of Krak-Akul is accurately called ‘Two Glacier’. The massive Ursu gorge that nearly severs the northern and southern halves is home to a scattered clan of reclusive snow elves, raising polar bear and caribou for protection, food and mounts, using them to help in hunting and fishing. The Vaursu River runs through the gorge to empty into the sea at both ends, and has its birth in a great spring centering the Ursu, but is also fed by melt from the glaciers and mountains to north and south. Although the elves have successfully hunted the snow trolls from Shun-Akul, there are small packs of Winter Wolves that continue to plague them, not only competing for food but also attacking any snow elf they can corner without his companion bears. Seal and walrus come ashore seasonally to have their pups, and orca whales gather off the coast to eat those who don’t learn to dodge and swim fast enough.

Just off the eastern coast of Shun-Akul, Gak-Akul was third discovered, and as such named ‘Third Glacier’. Free of both Trolls and Wolves, the thin strip of arctic forest around the perimeter of the island is said to be home to rare Feystags, although the truth of this claim is in doubt. If they are there, they don’t choose to let themselves be seen.
