The Northern Hivelands

Name: Northern Hivelands
Leader: God-Queen
Type: Hive network
Territory: Northern Mountains and several of the ruins.
Monetary unit: No such system exists.
Ethnicity/Race: Rosha seems to attract species from all over the Planes of existance and not all of them are familiar or pleasant to our sense of reality. The Bugs are an example of this. Insectile and other 'hybrids'. The Bugs are an advanced, bipedal species of insect. They are built with two sets of arms and advanced senses of smell and hearing. These senses compensate for their lack of eyes. Their society numbers in the thousands, most residing deep within their cave networks and coming out only in the case of a territory incursion. It is there, in the bowels of their caverns that their Queen-God resides. She is the key to their society and the Evil behind the Hybrids.

The Bugs like to capture humanoids alive and bring them back to their caverns. Once there, they are subjected to some sort of ritual or substance that causes them to undergo a horrific transformation. Their eyes cease to work and skin grows over the eye sockets. At the same time, all their hair falls off, they grow a set of arms and whatever sentience they have is quickly subsumed and destroyed by the overwhelming need to Conform and serve their Queen. Within a few days, there is no chance of returning these poor souls to their original form. They become the slaves of the Bugs, silently following orders even unto death.
Language: A system of high frequency sounds and phermones.
Religion: No religion in any sense that most sentients understand it. They have a strictly regimented insectile society in which all members live and die for their Mother-God.
Climate: Hot and humid, with very little variation from month to month.
Resources: Nothing is exported and the Bugs take what they want from the areas around their territory.
Flora and Fauna: The environment of the Northern Mountains is a mix of Rainforest and mutated known species of plants. Enormous, tree-sized ferns, brush, and other softwood plants dominate the area, with very few true trees that any nonresident would recognize. Many species of insect grow to giant proportions in the rainforest, feeding on the massive reptiles that fill the Valleys nearby. Reptiles fill most niches in the isolated environ of Serth. From flyers to river-bound swimmers, reptiles have dominated in the warm and humid jungles. The Kraath dominate further to the South and rarely come this far North, both out of fear of the Bugs and the lack of large prey to feed on.
Known Dangers: The entire region is a danger to any unprepared. From environmental dangers like flooding rivers, dangerously unstable ground, and poisonous plants to predators that tower over any nongiants. There are the obscene Bugs to the North and the Kraath to the South, with the lethal predators both groups feed and depend on.
History: There is no History for such a species. They are creatures of the 'here' and 'now' with no thought of tomorrow or yesterday. They exist as they have for centuries, feeding and multiplying, staking new territory and beginning the cycle again. They fill some of the ruined cities, but have no understanding of what they inhabit. They are, without a doubt, a living breathing example of nature's efficiency.
