Name: Margrim
Leaders: An unusually large orog, Mourshg rules over the people and slaves of Margrim with cruelty and violence, a figure of envy, hate and admiration for his subjects.
Type: Port city.
Location: At the mouth of the Shakatrog River and south of Laug Inlet, on the western coast of Ash-Akul, among the Northern Wastes.
Monetary unit: A wide variety of coins from innumerable other races and lands, valued by the weight and material they are made from rather than whatever they were originally intended to be worth. Trade and barter are used more frequently, and the most valuable item for trade or sale in the city is the rare vring ranak.
Ethnicity/Race: Predominantly orcs and half-orcs, also numerous orogs, the rare ogre or troll, and a few humans that have proven themselves strong and vicious enough to have a place in orc society.
Language: Orc, ogre, rough versions of common, and ice scrag.
Religion: Gruumsh, Ilneval, and rarely Luthic.
Climate: Icy, with heavy snows during the fall, winter and well into spring. The summer is brief, and the ground freezes at night even in the warmest months.
Resources: Fish, whale products and the occasional gem.
Flora and Fauna: Various vermin make their homes in the city and surrounding area, from large rats to feral cats and dogs. Ermine live wild and are occasionally kept as pets for use in fighting competitions, starved until they attack each other insanely. Usually both of the weasels in the fight die, but whichever lives longest is considered the ‘winner’. Some scrubby brush in the area allows the survival of wild hares, and caribou are occasionally sighted not far from the city, although they usually don’t live long after being sighted.
Known Dangers: The greatest danger of Margrim is those who live there, not only to visitors but also to each other.
History:Founded as a place where orc bands could set out to raid other lands and civilizations, Margrim has become the center of what little trade exists in their society. The orcs of Margrim trade fish and whale products with the Yraso Mountain clans in exchange for furs, gems and precious metals, which in turn are exchanged by primarily human traders for better weapons and slaves.
