Name: Yras Clave
Leaders: Baurk Pagdush, over-chief and high priest of He-Who-Watches, Gruumsh.
Type: Religious and cultural center, meeting place and monument to orc superiority.
Location: Near the center of the Yraso Mountain range, in the northwest corner of Ash-Akul, among the Northern Wastes.
Monetary unit: Barter, trade, gems and precious metals; a wide variety of coins from other places valued by weight and content.
Ethnicity/Race: Primarily orc, also orog and half-orc. Ogres are tolerated, and the rare human that has made a niche for himself high in clan hierarchy, although most humans that find themselves in Yras Clave are there as sacrifices to Gruumsh.
Language: Orc, ogre and rough versions of common.
Religion: Gruumsh, called He-Who-Watches or He-Who-Never-Sleeps by anyone but his priesthood. Only they have the honor of using his name. Shargaas has a secondary following, and occasional groups journey to the Shakatrog River to make sacrifices to Yurtrus.
Climate: Frozen, with snow and ice year-round. Even in the depths of the city far below ground, it is little warmer. Less windy, but water will still freeze if left out, and must be thawed over a fire before drinking.
Resources: Gems, precious metals, furs and weapons.
Flora and Fauna: Nothing is allowed to grow anywhere near the city, and the only live animals in the area are dogs raised for meat or work, and the ermine that have been brought up the Shakatrog for the popular sport of fighting, a past-time that has traveled north from Margrim.
Known Dangers:By far the greatest danger is the populace, and greatest among them are the priests.
History: A city-shrine to the Gruumsh and the achievements of all orcs, Yras Clave exists both among and within the steep crags of the Yraso Mountains. The lower depths of the city are a subterranean warren among the roots of the mountain range, where the dwellers have the occasional delight of a conflict with the underdark races, taking particular delight in the opportunity to kill any dwarves they encounter, regardless of type or reason for being there.
