Description:
Ivory Pygmy Oliphants are... well... Ivory colored tiny oliphants. They are shaped just like their larger, less intelligent cousins, with four thick legs, a short thin tail, a solid body, large ears, and a long flexible trunk. However, they are rarely more than one foot tall at the shoulder, and invariably pure ivory white.

Combat:
On the rare occasions that Ivor.. Okay, lets just call them IPO. On the rare occasions that IPO need to defend themselves, they use spells of as wide a variety as those a human or elf might use. They tend to concentrate more or distracting and calming their attacker or concealing and removing themselves than on damaging the opponent. They never attack anything themselves, for any reason. Even a berserker spell just results in a confused IPO, since they have no concept of active aggression.

Habitat/Society:
IPO prefer to live in forestlands, and have no use for cities. This may be because they get stepped on in cities frequently, and most cities are not clean enough to bear an inspection from under a foot off the ground. They are particularly fond of ponds and waterfalls, usually making their homes near these attractions. It is very rare to encounter two IPO together, and there is a fairly good reason for this. It is also the reason most wizards avoid them like the plague. IPO are extremely talkative, and have a natural ability to understand any language. In fact, if they find a willing ear - or unwilling, for that matter - they will not cease to talk until it becomes necessary for them to eat. However, they are not very good at listening... IPO make poor company for each other. Their reproduction is a marvel of absurdity - IPO do not mate. Every 10-20 years, an IPO lays a single egg. Usually they manage to find some poor, unsuspecting bird with a ground-level nest to lay add this egg to, although there have been strange sightings of other creatures trying to raise the baby IPO, which is born with all of its parents basic knowledge (but no personal), but no ability to caste magical spells until it is 10 years old. Even dragons have been seen carefully raising a tiny baby IPO. The reason that these poor creatures go to the trouble of dealing with the talkative babies is that IPO are born with a natural, powerful ability, not unlike a 'Charm' spell that is constantly in effect. This wears off after the first 5 years, at which time either the 'parent' is attached enough to the IPO to continue caring for it, or the IPO beats a hasty retreat. IPO live to be as old as 300.

Ecology:
IPO were the result of a fairly unskilled mage trying a fairly high level spell. Instead of miniaturizing a white female oliphant, it mixed him with the oliphant and miniaturized them both in one. Although he never found a way out of the spell, he did manage to make changes to himself that allowed him to survive, and surprisingly enough, his offspring reproduce true, despite the strangeness of the breed. Although even the IPO admit to the rumor that to the day he died, he never got over the indignation of laying eggs.
