Skin is dull white to muddy yellow or grey, and they have no claws on their feet. Eyes are large, protuberant and yellow, ranging from pale watery yellow to dark pustulent ochre. Albinism is not uncommon among them, resulting in a pasty, pale grey skin color and pink eyes. They can leap up to 20 feet forwards and 10 feet upward. Combat:
These monstrosities usually prey on the homeless, drunks and strayed pets, lurking in sewers and basements during the day to creep out at night and hunt. If cornered, they will attack insanely in a berserk fury, and will continue attacking until they are killed or drive away their opponent. When hunting, they prefer to either lay an ambush for the unwary, usually in a district where taverns and/or strayed animals are fairly common, or search out sleeping homeless and passed-out drunks. When they select the creature they intend to attack, they conceal themselves whenever possible and try to stun the prey with a mind attack that paralyzes the victim for several minutes, during which time the Kablin attacks physically, tearing at throat or belly. If they are unable to conceal themselves, they will leap at the victim's face and throat while simultaneously trying to stun them. The stun attack is only effective within 10 feet of the Kablin. Habitat/Society:
Able to live in any city that has a poor district, where homeless and animals can go missing without it being cause for notice throughout the city. Females go into season once every three months, breeding with the first male to provide her with a meal. Males are attracted by the distinct psychic 'scent' of the fertile female, which they can sense up to five miles away. After breeding, the two part ways and the female gives birth to a single offspring after 4 weeks. In 2 more months, she violently drives it away as she begins to go into season again. There is a very high mortality rate among young Kablin. Females live no longer than 8 years, but males may live as long as 12 years. Ecology:
Kablin are a predator of civilization. They evolved from feral city cats, and have found their niche in the urban environment; they keep the population of derelicts down. Although they can live in the wild for short times, they are not well suited to it, due to the lack of fur and protective skin pigmentation. They cannot tolerate prolonged exposure to sunlight. |
