They have the bodies of minute, slender horses, a single curved, spiraling horn on their forehead which contains a paralytic and possibly lethal poison, and the wings of an insect. Combat:
If they can escape without being seen, they will do so, but if attacked, or if they think they are being hunted, they will go so far as to gather other Shaem together and lay a trap for the aggressor. Although they strike with both sharp front hooves, the main attack is with the sharply pointed horn, and the poison it contains. Once the paralytic poison has taken effect, the opponent is left to the mercy of the elements and any other predator that might happen by. Assuming the insects and birds don't eat them first. Habitat/Society:
Meanmna clans are called ‘shaem’, and the eldest member of the shaem is the ‘lead’, who is also religious leader and responsible for teaching newborn Meanmna how to use their innate telempathic abilities. Females and males pair off at an early age, and remain together for the remainder of their approximately 50 year life span, producing a single Meanmna foal every 5 years between the ages of 15 and 30. Ecology:
Living on a diet comprised of grasses and insects, the Meanmna do not cultivate any crops or raise any livestock. They are a shy race, very cautious of anyone they don't know. |
