Name: Sauria
Leaders: Queen Natori Type: Hereditary Monarchy Capital: Sauria Location: Western Barrier Mountains, the highest peak, Hiddenpeak Monetary unit: Barter system Ethnicity/Race: Exclusively Saurian. The Saurian are a humanoid species of flying reptile that have evolved from the other species of reptile that fill the continent. They have an advanced culture, and almost no concept of war, beyond the understanding that food must be killed. They are xenophobic and very isolationalist. Language: Saurian, a language of song and sound not easily understood or spoken by non-saurian Religion: The Saurians worship a vague Sky-god that provides them with all, and demands songs as tribute. They hold singing displays at sunset and sunrise, and the echoes from their songs can be heard for miles, as the saurians soar and sing to their God. Climate: Cold dry winds surround the peaks, keeping most of the other aerial predators away. The saurians have adapted by becoming warmblooded creatures. Resources: Gems are found in large numbers through a stretch of the Barrier Mountains and would find many buyers, if the saurians understood that there are those that would buy them. To the Saurians, they are brightly colored stones, nice for ornamentation. Flora and Fauna: The Barrier mountains reach high into the sky, trapping much of the warmth and humidity of Serth within the confines of the continent. There is sparse plant growth high in the mountains, and almost no animal life beyond hardy rodents and non-native birdlife. Known Dangers: The standard dangers you can expect from a mountain environment, ranging from extreme cold, to harsh winds, possible starvation, predator attacks, disease, and then there are the monsters. Wyverns, Ice Trolls and Dire bears are known to exist in the region. History: The Saurian sing their ancient songs, telling their history of quiet isolation from the rest of the world. Their God supposedly granted them with intellect in order to have a Children of Songmakers and Wind Dancers. To forget this is to invite a return to their savage past, or so their elders sing to their children. Their days are filled with hours of song and soaring amongst the clouds, a bit of Paradise in the heart of a Savage continent. |
