Realm of the Elements

Sha'Meth
Name: Sha'Meth
Leaders: Kella Stratus, Council Leader
Type: Council of Clan leaders and Defense Commanders
Capital: Sha'Meth
Location: Southeastern section of Serth, near the Barrier Mountains.
Monetary unit: Gold coin and gems.
Ethnicity/Race: A large majority are Genasi, humans with the blood of Elemental-kin flowing through their veins. There are a small group of exiles and refugees, and those hiding in Sha'Meth from all over the universe.
Language: The four languages of the Elemental Planes are commonly spoken amongst the Four Clans and Dragonese is the Common tongue of the city.
Religion: Worship of the Four Elemental Princes are common. The four churches get along well, with cool hostility being the worst shown openly.
Climate: Serth is a tropical continent, full of steamy jungles, raging rivers and flood plains. Within a few miles of Sha'Meth, however, the Genasi are able to exert amazing control over the land and climate. The Earth genasi have kept the lands fertile around the city for a few miles distant, to ensure plenty of crops for their people. Air genasi maintain a cooling breeze through the city at all times, and work to relieve the intense humidity that is the bane of all travelers on Serth. Water genasi maintain control over the two rivers that pass by and 'through' the city itself. Fire genasi have the most dangerous task of all, trying to maintain the delicate balance within Mt. Brimstone.
Resources: Elemental weapons forged in the volcano and the Everflow river.
Flora and Fauna: The great beasts that fill the land flourish in the deep jungles that surround the city and its territory, but rarely come close to the city since learning, painfully, how dangerous the citizens can be. Aerial reptiles still plague the city, from time to time, swooping down from the Barrier mountains to snatch up solitary farmers and other genasi and flying off before Defense forces can stop them. The Everflow river is free of creatures of any sort, due to its source and is one of the reasons for the fertile fields surrounding the city. The Everflow flows right through the city itself, nourishing much of the citizenry and especially the Water genasi.
Known Dangers: The many reptilian predators that fill the jungles are the main danger, combined with many aerial predators that feed on the grazing reptiles on the flood plains.

History: Sha'Meth is a city of humans descended from the slaves of Elemental creatures that had invaded one of the many worlds of the Prime Material. Many centuries ago, humanoid creatures from the four Elemental planes invaded a human world and quickly conquered the barbarian tribes that predominated. Over the next few centuries, many of the humans crossbred with the Elemental creatures, creating the genasi and other creatures, closer to Elemental than human. However, they remained slaves, and they remained so until the rising of Meth. Meth was a Fire genasi that had risen high in the city's defense forces and was known as a relentless enemy to those that would challenge his Masters' power. So, it came as a shock to the Elemental djinn when he led a successful revolt to cast the creatures out of their world. Naturally, he became their King, and upon his death, the city became the ward of the Council of Seven. The Council is composed of the High Elder of each of the Four Clans and three from the Defense forces.

Members of the four Clans all show signs of their mixed blood, usually by skin tone, occasional physical charateristics, personality quirks and enhanced natural talent for Elemental magics. The four Clans continue to strive and work against each other, politically and in Council but work together in all other things, especially defense matters. Lastly, their former Masters still strive to find their former slaves and they know it. As such, the City itself is warded to prevent any sort of Translocational magic such as Teleport and Dimension Door. This same magic warps these same magics within a mile of the city, preventing any mage from just appearing outside the city. Anyone needing to enter the city must do so on foot and through the Gates.
