Name: Blonauch Leaders: Chief Zurtag Tok-lushd’a. Type: Multi-racial refuge and trading city. Location: Beneath the central Southern Mainlands. Monetary unit: Trading in slaves, food, gems, weapons, and anything else they can make, find or steal.. Ethnicity/Race: Primarily goblin, also bugbear, hobgoblin, koalinth, norkers and diverse other underdark anomalies. Language: Undercommon, goblinoid dialects. Religion: There are more gods worshiped in Blonauch than could be listed, but the primary official deity is Bargrivyek. Climate: Warm and somewhat humid. Resources: Fish, kelp, fungi, slaves, weapons and sanctuary. Flora and Fauna: Several species of underdark lizards and parasites survive and thrive in the goblinoid city, feeding off the detritus of the official residents - and occasionally becoming a meal for one of them. Known Dangers: The main dangers in the city are the various residents. There is also a viable risk of disease, as many sections of Blonauch are not kept very clean, and the lowest areas are frequently awash with sewage and the occasional dead body when rainstorms above flood the underground rivers that flow through these sections. History: Blonauch was first a small city of goblins, but gradually the numerous tribes of bugbear, hobgoblin, koalinth and norkers that passed through or near the city began to settle there. With this influx, the city grew far beyond what it would have been as a purely goblin settlement. The highest levels are home to primarily the goblins and bugbears, the middle levels contain mostly hobgoblins and norkers, with the river-riddled lowest levels containing koalinth and any of the other races who have been banished there by the others of their kind. They don’t usually live very long there, but the koalinth eat well. The city has become a place where goblinoids of any kind can hide from persecution by the other underdark races, or bring anything they might have acquired for trading. Although certainly not a ‘sanctuary’ by the standards of any other race, it is such for those who dwell there, protected from annihilation by the stronger, more magically and psychically powerful races. The leader of the city has always been, and remains, a goblin. Usually the strongest, smartest goblin - since otherwise whoever was stronger or smarter would have killed him and taken over. |
