Name: Gak Gushnak
Leaders: Gagdush, an orc of orog proportions and a temper that is unusually unstable even among orcs. It is said he once gutted one of his own sons to test the edge on his new sword. There was a counter-rumor for a while that it was really just a daughter, but that was mocked as ridiculous, since nobody would have thought the story worth telling if it were just a daughter.
Type: Underdark fortress.
Location: Beneath southern Shun-Akul, in the Northern Wastes.
Monetary unit: Barter, trade, and a variety of coins from various races and places, valued by weight and content.
Ethnicity/Race: Orcs, boogins, quaggoth.
Language: Orc, quaggoth, underdark common and very rarely, a rough version of sunside common.
Religion: Gruumsh and Shargaas, with minor followings of Bahgtru.
Climate: Cool and fairly dry. Far warmer than the land above, but still somewhat colder than most areas of the underdark.
Resources: Gems and metals.
Flora and Fauna: The residents constantly raze any vegetation they find near Gak Gushnak, in celebration of their patron deity, He-Who-Watches. They do allow fertile algae pools and fungus to grow in select caverns, to feed the rothe herds that are the main staple of the city's food. This bland diet is supplemented by whatever creatures they can catch and kill on the frequent forays to make war against anything they can find to fight. The rare ice-worm or white dragon burrows down deep enough to be encountered near the city, although it is usually killed in short order by the citizens.
Known Dangers: Orcs, boogins and quaggoth. The rare ice-worm or white dragon.
History: Founded when a large war-party set out from Yras Clave, the location for what started as an outpost was selected by the priest that led the group. Between Gak Gushnak and Yras Clave, it is the goal and dream of the orc clans to someday sweep southward through the underdark and wipe the other races from existance. Perhaps fortunately, the natural dangers the two cities encounter on a daily basis have so far kept the population too low to be a major threat to the southern races.
