Description:
Hanas are best described as air-breathing jellyfish. They are not fish though, but use the steam from the hot springs to keep their paper-thin skin moist. They can grow to 8 feet in length, which includes the bulbous head and long tentacles. They use a 'scent hormone' to find prey, and usually feed on small mammals or birds in and around their territories.

They are slow moving and iridescent with a hint of blue and purple, depending on how the light reflects.

Combat:
Hanas usually travel in groups when there is attack about to happen. They have three long tentacles with barbed 'receptors' on them, which are the stingers. In small mammals, it usually only takes one sting to paralyze the creature. The barbs from the receptors are pulled from the tentacle and stick in the flesh of the creature, where they continue to pump their poison. To larger mammals, the barbs will cause swelling and discomfort, as well as a tingling sensation. Several stings from the tentacles can kill larger mammals.

Once the paralysis happens, the Hanas have one long, tongue-like tentacle that wraps around the prey. Coating this darker tentacle is a substance that is produced from inside the jelly, and is used to break down the composition of flesh, bone and muscles so the prey can be devoured. It has an acidic feeling against the flesh, and if not treated immediately by flushing with water, can burn through skin.

Habitat/Society:
There is no society with Hanas. They lay eggs in the steamy refuge of the underground springs, and so far, have been isolated to the southern lands of Azure Steppe, east of Kuro Mountains and South of Menoria.

Ecology:
Hanas do not have a long life span. They can live up to 2 years, but quickly deteriorate. Other Hanas will eat themselves during drought. Hanas can easily dry out if they stay above the springs for more then an hour, and propel themselves using the air. They are instinctual creatures only.
