Flora and Fauna: Enshrouded within an icy blanket of unnatural cold, the Iceveil Forest has a deadly beauty straight out of childrens nightmares. Everything from the blue deciduous trees to the rocky ground is draped with ice and snow that never melts. Within the forest, it is forever winter. Even though the air never rises above freezing, the hearty foliage continues to grow despite the layers of ice that have clad the woods in white.
Known Dangers: Devils. Winter Wolves and other deadly creatures of the north. Rehmoraz. The Hunter's Son.
History:
History names this cursed wood the Border Forest, which included a settlement of gray elves within the magical land. About one hundred years ago the elves were slaughtered and the Hunter’s Son claimed the forest. To this day, eerie ruins can be found amongst the large boulders that litter the rough landscape. These skeletal relics are all that remain of the elves that once lived here.
Now the forest protects its Dark Lord. He has twisted life into a cruel mockery of what it once was. It is home to creatures of the north, including packs of winter wolves and hordes of ice devils. Any creature that wanders into the frigid grasp of the Hunter’s Son risks its life.
The Dark Lord’s home, Castle Narintha, rests deep in the shroud of the forest, its tall dark spires extending over the trees. Its dark windows eternally watch the ice-covered domain. The cold castle holds a few loyal servants and followers of the Reverend, including his drow wife and their son.
The icy grasp of the ambitious Dark Lord is spreading outward day by day. Northward, over the mountains and into the Mica Dunes his influence creeps. A rehmoraz now lives within the desert dunes, keeping guard over the frozen desert.
To the west an old human settlement, Borderville, still survives. The Hunter’s Son watches over the city in exchange for servants and the occasional sacrifice. The poor people live without worry of attack from goblin-kin or other humans. But in exchange, they live in a state of constant terror with the knowledge that their keeper is also a fierce predator. One step out of bounds, and they end up as a reminder to others. The Hunter’s Son blesses or destroys; the choice is theirs.
